YARN USED
These crochet infant mittens are made using ane of the softest yarns I've ever worked with!
The yarn that I opted for is James C. Brett Flutterby Chunky, a 100% super soft polyester.
It'southward a lovely, cosy chenille yarn and is a bang-up pick for providing warmth to small babe hands.
The range of colours on offering is gorgeous too – so many pretty shades to choose from.
Make the mittens along with the matching beanie and booties.

FAST CROCHET Infant MITTENS: A FREE Design

SUPPLIES
- Yarn: Category #5 / chunky / bulky / 12 ply yarn. I used approximately 0.5 ounce (13g) from ane brawl of James C. Brett Flutterby Chunky ,191 yds / three.5 oz (175m / 100g). Colours featured
in the photos: Blue (3); pink (2); lilac (10); beige (28); light-green xi); xanthous (9). - Crochet Hook: J (6mm) (easy on your hand, plus your yarn will glide off these hooks!)
- Pair of scissors (super sharp… and pretty).
- Yarn needle (the bent tip makes sewing and weaving in ends much easier)
Design NOTES
- Usa crochet terminology used throughout.
- Instructions are for size newborn . Changes for size 0-3 months and 3-6 months are given inside circular () brackets.
- When only ane pedagogy is given in black, it applies to all sizes.
- The mittens are made in rounds.
- For best results, use the recommended yarn. You lot tin utilise any other #five / bulky / mesomorphic / 12 ply yarn for this projection, providing you meet the gauge as detailed below.
- From row ii onwards, y'all'll work your one-half double crochets in the spaces in between each sew (equally opposed to crocheting through the elevation of each stitch).

GAUGE / TENSION

FINISHED SIZE
Newborn : Length – 3.5" (9cm)

STITCHES & ABBREVIATIONS (US CROCHET TERMS)
ch(s) – chain(s)

sl st – slip stitch: Insert hook into stitch, yarn over (yo), pull up a loop, you will have 2 loops on your hook. Pull the first loop through the second loop. 1 skid stitch completed.

SPECIAL STITCHES
FPhdc- front postal service half double crochet: Yarn over (yo), insert hook from front to back to front end around the post of the next sew together, yo, pull up a loop, 3 loops on hook. Yo, pull through all 3 loops on claw. i FPhdc completed.
BPhdc – dorsum post one-half double crochet: Yarn over (yo), insert hook from dorsum to forepart to back effectually the post of the next stitch, yo, pull up a loop, iii loops on hook. Yo, pull through all 3 loops on hook. ane BPhdc completed.
Design INSTRUCTIONS
MITTENS (Make 2)
Ch 4 and sl st to 1st ch to form a band.
Circular 1. Ch1 (does not count equally your 1 st hither and throughout), 6 ( 7 – 8 ) hdc into the centre of ring, sl st to space between ch1 and 1st hdc to join [ 6 ( 7 – 8 ) sts].

Adjacent Round. Ch1, (FPhdc in next st, BPhdc in next st) half dozen ( seven – eight ) times, sl st to infinite between ch1 and 1st FPhdc to join [ 12 ( 14 – sixteen ) sts].
Repeat terminal circular once ( twice – twice ) more.
Cutting yarn, fasten off and weave in ends.
The main trunk of your mitten is now finished and you should have 8 ( 9 – ten ) rounds in total.
TIES (MAKE 2)
Ch 33 ( 37 – 41 )
Cutting yarn and weave each tail end in (I weaved the ends in and out of the back loops to hibernate them).
Weave the tie in and out through the spaces in between each stitch in circular 7 ( 7 – 8 ). You can see how I did this in the video tutorial to a higher place.
